No one is an isolated event. We are shaped by the air we breathe, the water we drink, the land beneath our feet, and those who came before us. In the fast pace of modern life, it’s easy to lose touch.
Known Origin is an immersive experience studio that brings people back to their senses, and through them, to where they are.
We create gatherings, tell stories and guide experiences alongside people who have spent years cultivating a particular sensitivity, so that we may all deepen our own.
When we feel our connection to the world, we become more grounded, discerning and resilient, better able to care for the places and people we belong to.
Editions
Each edition follows one subject, a material, a place or a person, and tells its story across film, sound, writing, physical work, fieldwork and intimate live gatherings. Sometimes the subject comes to us. Sometimes we go afield to study it, following the threads together as a community.
Experiences
A curated collection of experiences, made with masters in their field to reconnect us with where we are. Seeing with a photographer, listening with a musician, moving with a dancer, tasting with a chef. Whether through one sense or several, we explore our own perception: how it works, how to practice it, its history, and what it reveals about the place we live.
